Cold water firm. Hot water soft.
Cold water keeps the sponge stiff, and that is the setting for baked-on pans.
Warm water softens the same sponge for a glass hob or a painted door.
One pack covers both jobs, so the water decides, not the shelf.
The pack says the sponge expands on its own once you open it. Some buyers open a flat one. Hot water for ten minutes brings back most of them.Maker's pack copy, read 28 August 2026

Balls by the bagful

Eighty balls, one bag
A count matters when the balls leave your hand faster than they come back: a coaching basket, a ball machine hopper, a season of fetch.
Eighty work out at $0.69 a ball, sixty at $0.70. The difference is a cent, so buy the volume you get through.

Questions people ask before buying
My sponge came out flat. Is it broken?
The pack says it expands on its own once the vacuum bag opens. Drop a flat one in hot water for ten minutes and press it once.
Will these scratch a glass cooktop or a stainless pan?
The maker lists stainless steel, ceramics, marble and glass as safe, read 28 August 2026. Try a patch at the back of the hob first.
How long does one sponge last?
Buyers split: some scrub for weeks, others swap after a few cleans. At $1.17 a sponge, keep spares rather than nurse one.
What differs between double-sided and heavy duty?
One body, two working faces. Double-sided pairs a soft side with a scrubbing side; heavy duty puts the coarser face on both.
Are the tennis balls for a court or for a dog?
They measure 2.55 in across, the standard size, and a dog takes to them as readily as a court does. Take a ball away when the felt tears.
Does the mesh bag hold all eighty?
The bag comes with the pack and takes the full count. It carries better over a shoulder than a bucket does.
Do the tripod legs move one at a time?
They open together in one motion, which is fast on a flat table. On an uneven surface that linkage is the trade-off.
Do the boxes need tape or glue?
They arrive flat and fold in six steps, no glue and no tools, in the maker's words. The window lid tucks in and holds itself.
One sponge, four names
Double-sided and heavy duty share one body and differ in the working face. The 12-pack costs $1.17 a sponge, the 8-pack $1.25. Both are ours.
How Treeroot works
Treeroot started in 2022 with a kitchen question: why does a sponge cost four dollars and last two weeks.
The first order was a dozen, bought to find out.
What stays in the range is what people buy again, by the pack.
Buy by the dozen, use them, replace them.
